Today I want to share a little bit about my birthday celebration in one of my favorite restaurants in Panama City,Panama: Ocho y Medio in Casco Viejo.
After finishing my project in the British Virgin Islands, I received an offer to go to Nevis Island, 3 days before my birthday.
Even though I had already visited Nevis island, I was very tempted to accept the offer, especially because it was super close to the BVI.
However, I decided to pass this opportunity and reschedule for 2019 , so I could rest and recharge with my family and friends that I haven’t seen during the year.
Last year for my birthday I did an intimate dinner with my family and friends, and although it was a big party for around 50 people, this year I wanted to do something much smaller.
When I was looking for a place to celebrate my birthday I didn’t doubt that Ocho y Medio was the ideal place. Is one of my favorites restaurants for a reason: the cuisine that they offer is exquisite and of course the place itself is super photogenic decorated with a tropical atmosphere. Yes, exactly what I had in mind.
After all the islands in the Caribbean I visited during the year I got inspire to choose a very tropical location for my birthday.
Ocho y Medio has an outdoor terrace that is my favorite place in the restaurant. So it was the perfect spot to celebrate my dinner party.
Although the majority of my family was traveling in Costa Rica, I was able to have with me my brother and my cousin who were in Panama the same time as me.
If any of you are looking for a place to celebrate a birthday, a special occasion or even looking for a good restaurant around Panama City I would certainly recommend with my eyes closed Ocho y Medio. I know you guys will thank me later:)
The menu offer is inspired by the tropical essence of the Caribbean with a series of ingredients that combine a delicious Panamanian local cuisine. Some of my favorite dishes and that I would recommend are:
- Fish Tacos
- Grilled eggplant
- Ceviche
- Grilled octopus
- Patacones
- Salmon in Maracuyá Sauce
- Chocolate fondant
My dinner party started at 8:30 pm and even though I was a little bit late (hey I was the bday girl so i can right? lol) I make it on time before most of the people arrived.
I really had such a wonderful night with all the people that came to celebrate with me. I was even surprise to see some familiar faces I though they won’t be able to make it but in the end they did. It’s funny how when you get older you value more the time your friends give you right? For me that was the best gift they could give me that night!
After dinner and blowing the candles we decided to continue the party around Casco Viejo.
My friends took me a new place so the party was just getting started lol. Yes, don’t even ask me how was my hangover on the next day lol.
