Cómo me convertí en influencer de viajes? / How Cómo me convertí en influencer de viajes? / How did I become a travel conte. I quit my dream job in Ralph Lauren Latinamerica to pursue my dream or traveling the world. How did I started?I was the head of marketing for RL in Latinamerica and I really loved my job, it was fun, I had a good salary, good position and I felt I was getting paid to do something that I really liked. Back in the said I used to receive all the bloggers and influencers proposals that wanted to work with the brand. So, I got interested in the blogging industry, and then decided to open a fashion blog (since I worked in fashion) just for fun. I wanted to give it a try to see if I like it. I remember when I started there were around 4-5 girls already doing something similar in my country. I really like it and my blog started growing that brands started calling me to go to events, send me clothes, etc. After a year I decided to rebrand by blog and do something different. I didn’t like the fact I was doing the same as everyone so I decided to transition from fashion to travel. Back in the days there was no travel blogs in my country and I thought it was a smart move specially because I wanted the luxury niche. After I changed I actually started seen my content to become more popular and my audience growing more faster than before. Many people actually thought I use to live from my blog but the reality was that I actually had a corporate office job from Monday to Friday 8 hours a day. I remember during that period I meet the first person who actually was making a living by just traveling making content for hotels. I was so interested how someone could do that and then I thought maybe I can do this too. Then I got invited to joint a project with NatGeo to go to China for 2 months. They pay wasn’t that good but I still wanted to go because I thought was a great opportunity because will open me a lot of doors. But there was a big problem I didn’t have enough vacations to go and I didn’t wanted to quit my dream job just for a project of 2 months. Didn’t really made sense. So, I had to let pass the opportunity which I really end up regretting a lot (continue in the first comment)

My Asian Racism Story. How I experience racism gro My Asian Racism Story. How I experience racism growing up as half Asian - half Latin in Latin America
and how this was part of my faultSorry the video is in Spanish. I wanted to create more awareness about this problem in Latin America who is lacking more understanding about this problem.Ever since I was a kid I experienced racism until last year. I can’t explain the amount of times of being a teenager to my mid 20’s I looked in the mirror and looked myself thinking: I wish I had more round eyes, or white skin. All related to the #asianhate experiences I had growing up in Latin America. I never understand why some kids in my school were always making fun of me pulling their eyes or inventing Chinese words. Making jokes about Asian cultures and saying we eat all kinds of weird staff. To then reggaeton culture making songs that become popular that were insulting to Asians.Still today many people in Latin America refer to any kind of Asian “Chinos” like is something completely normal and it’s actually VERY WRONG. Judging all kinds of Asians just because of their eyes shape should not be something ANYONE should do. Today many people I know, friends, and families, still refer to me as “La China”. Been called “la China” is as insulting like calling someone “black” and this is something we NEED to CHANGE in Latin America.Part of this is my fault because I NEVER corrected people in Latin America who referred to me like this. I ALWAYS stayed quiet and put my head down, letting people judge me because of my eyes shape. When I was a kid/teenager I felt ashamed of my Asian roots because of all the bullying I suffered. Then jokes changed when I become an adult and older because suddenly being Asian was “exotic” and “sexy” So, somehow I felt the society was accepting me (completely wrong from my side)I’m extremely heartbroken with all the #antiasianhatecrimes happening around the world. Imagine what is living with fear? Fear of going out of your house because someone may kill you because of the shape of your eyes! In what world are we living? @asianamericancollectiveContinue in the first comment#asiaticos #asiáticoslatinoamericanos #latinoamérica #racismoenlatinoamerica
Wishing to be back traveling around Hualien but in Wishing to be back traveling around Hualien but in reality I’m packing my life in 3 suitcases and 4 boxes because I’m moving again 📦🙈 Yep, today is been 6 months since I moved to Taiwan and this is my third time moving. Finding apartments in Taipei is a nightmare 🤭The good thing is that I finally found one which I love. With lots of natural light and way much bigger. I even have a extra room for when anyone wants to come visit me (if I don’t convert it into a walking closet😂)
•••

Should I eat stinky tofu?I have been in Taiwan Should I eat stinky tofu?I have been in Taiwan for 5 months and one of the things I LOVE the most is exploring night markets. However someone told me that is not the authentic real experience if I haven’t tried the #1 thing: stinky tofu 🙈 I mean I love tofu but I hate and can’t stand the smell of the stinky version. I don’t know how people do it lol!? I actually heard that it doesn’t taste as bad. So, maybe I should give it a shot? 🤔 Thoughts?
•••

Growing up as a Latin-Asian in Central America always felt like I didn't belong there, even though I was born in Costa Rica. When people asked me where I was from, I always responded "I'm Costa Rican and I live in Panama". Everyone would get confused and say "You look Indian-Asian, not from CR or Panama".I never talked about this before. Panama is my home and I’m so grateful to have lived in that beautiful country. But spending most of my teenager years in Panama always made me feel ashamed about being Asian.I hated when people referred to me as “La China” since I had Asian looking eyes. I know some people don’t even realize that is offensive and they still call me that. The Asian community in Panama is big. And the reggaeton culture is also big. Back in the days, a few reggaeton artists had hit songs offensive to the Asians. I remember everyone in Panama (even my closest friends) loved them. The songs were catchy but they were also offensive.A few examples:
“China pasa mi vuelto” by Burrel
“Disque Yeye son made in Taiwan” By Sargento EspinozaAnyone from Panama can relate. I remember every time that I went out with my friends and I heard the beginning of the songs, I would hide in the bathroom until the song ended. Now that the movement of #standforasians is happening, I thought that this is a good opportunity for me to confess this. Asian racism always existed but was never covered in the media like other racism problems. Especially since last year, it’s alarming to see how it increased thanks to Trump who called Covid the “Chinese virus”.It mades me SICK people who think this way. If anyone has Asian friends, whether they are mixed race or not, please acknowledge what the Asian community has been going through around the world. Please share more about this problem than turning a blind eye!

Love during a pandemic?🤔. Out of 7 billion peop Love during a pandemic?🤔. Out of 7 billion people, 195 countries, in the middle of a world pandemic we both decided to move to Taiwan the same year. Crazy right!? And in less than 2 months we found each other!I know why my plans of moving to Taiwan in 2019 never worked out, why I got stuck in Japan for 7 months and why only then I moved to Taiwan. It was YOU. All the signs led me to YOU! I feel incredibly lucky to find this unique and strong connection with you. It’s crazy to think that many people spend years trying to find this unique connection with someone and I found you when I was least expecting. Even with all of our ups and downs I wouldn’t change a thing about us. I love learning everyday about each other.

Happy Lunar Year!✨🧧🧨Welcoming 2021- Year o Happy Lunar Year!✨🧧🧨Welcoming 2021- Year of the Metal Ox 🐂Celebrating my first Lunar Year in Taiwan 🇹🇼 where I have been learning and embracing more about my Asian rootsWhat is in store for the Year of the Ox?The ox is the second animal of the Chinese zodiac. In Chinese culture, the Ox is a valued animal because of its role in agriculture, positive characteristics, such as being hardworking and honest. It is considered an animal of strength that is associated with harvests and fertility. It usually signifies movements so, hopefully, the world will be less static than last year and get moving again in the second half of the year! The Year of the Ox will be a year of endurance. It’s no longer just about survival but about anchoring ourselves and concretizing our dreams. Our responsibilities will feel especially heavy this year. Things that were once easy will require more effort in the Year of the Ox. Our strength is undeniable, but we still have to choose our battles wisely❤️

Do you believe in destiny? Our Love story 🥰 (Es Do you believe in destiny? Our Love story 🥰 (Español en el primer comentario)Two strangers who moved to Taiwan last year and fell in love. Destiny?I moved to Taiwan last August after being in Japan for 7 months. It was always in my plans to move to Taiwan since 2019 but somehow the universe didn’t help me to achieve that until the perfect opportunity came last yearGokhan moved to Taiwan last October and his original plan was to travel around Mexico. However he wasn’t sure because of the Covid situation and he started Googling where to escape from Covid🤫  Taiwan showed up with an opportunity to get a Gold Card. So he applied and his Gold Card was approved within a month. So, he packed his bags from the States and arrived hereI’m Costa Rican 🇨🇷 , Panamanian 🇵🇦 Taiwanese  🇹🇼 and Gokhan is Turkish 🇹🇷 American 🇺🇸 We both quit our corporate jobs. I quit 4 years ago and he quit a year ago. My corporate experience is in the luxury fashion industry and Gokhan's is in tech and startups in Silicon ValleyWe have 6 years difference and we are both Sagittarius! We are both risk takers but the difference is that Gokhan is a calculated risk taker while I’m an All IN type despite the risk of the consequences. This is why it took longer for him to pull the trigger. He quit his job to travel and live his dream life. We both plan to travel when things are back to normal and build 4 different bases in different continents. Taipei and Los Angeles being 2 of them❤️Gokhan seems to think that I was playing hard when we met since I was not good at responding Bumble messages (I was busy 🙈) However I’m thankful that he kept insisting and pursuing to meet me because it led to the best first date I ever had. Since the moment we met in person and started having meaningful conversations, it was a perfect match

Japan vs Taiwan? Which one would you choose? (ESPA Japan vs Taiwan? Which one would you choose? (ESPAÑOL en el primer comentario)It’s been a year since I flew to Japan and stayed for 7 months before moving to Taiwan. As I had the chance to live in both countries, many people ask me which one I prefer more? Honestly it’s really hard to pick since both are really amazing countries and cultures. However I will give it my best shot and share my thoughts on a few categories:• Cost of living: Taiwan definitely wins this category. It’s really affordable compared to Japan and has one of the best standards of living in Asia. Everything in Japan felt so expensive• People: Taiwan. Both countries have amazing and friendly people but Taiwanese are more warm. Specially with the foreigners!• Food: Japan 🍜 🍣 🍱• Nature: Both countries. Japan is a much bigger country and have many more to offer. But Taiwan for been such a small island also offers a lot of things• Sights: Japan. There’s so many monuments, temples, shrines, attractions in general that Japan has to offer. This culture is really rich and beautiful!• Beaches: Japan. You cannot beat those Okinawa beaches! It is Japan best kept secret for sure• Hikes: Taiwan. So many great hikes all around the island that you will never get bored! Definitely a hikers paradise• Transportation: both countries have amazing public transport you can literally go anywhere of the country by bullet train. However the cost of public transport is way more cheaper in Taiwan than Japan• Communication: Taiwan. As a foreigner visiting any of these countries Taiwanese speak more English than Japanese and if they don’t they will do anything in their power to help you• Safety: both countries are super safe. They are the best places to loose your wallet because there’s 99.99 percent you will get it back

Expectation vs Reality Taiwan edition ☺️🇹🇼This is the famous IG spot everyone visits in Taipei! Located at the Elephant Mountain. It’s probably one of the most photogenic places in Taiwan to capture the iconic Taipei 101. Before you go, there are some things that you should know to get a better experience at this place:1. Try to go on a weekday not a weekend. If possible, go early since mornings are far less crowded
2. Be prepared to hike 500-600 steps (1.9km) if you want to make it to the top which is where the best photos are taken!
3. Humidity and heat will make it a sweaty walk so bring comfortable clothes to the hike and make the outfit change when you reach the top
4. Take a bottle of water
5. Be prepared to wait on a line to take your photo
6. On the way down, there’s a little shop that sells freshly squeezed orange juice which is delicious!
