Nayara Springs, La Fortuna San Carlos, Costa Rica

Continuing with my road trip through Costa Rica @estefaniaacuna and I took off  to the region of La Fortuna San Carlos one of my favorite areas of Costa Rica.

I had the opportunity to visit La Fortuna, San Carlos region several times with my family and every time I visit this place I keep getting a bigger crush.

This time I was going on a girl’s trip and we stayed in the beautiful Nayara Springs, which by the way climbed the list of my favorite hotels I have visited in the world.

To tell you a little about Nayara Springs, this is an exclusive boutique resort for adults located in the Arenal Volcano National Park. This offers isolated luxury villas immersed in the lush vegetation of Costa Rica’s pristine rainforest.

This place has an impressive natural beauty, delimited by a stream and underground mineral thermal springs, which provide the best views for a relaxing disconnection from the daily routine and a deep connection with the beautiful nature around.

The villas are really impressive big, elegant and super cozy. Each one has huge bathrooms, additional outdoor showers, a terrace with a private pool which is fed by natural mineral hot springs surrounded by a tropical forest to provide an intimate space for privacy.

Nayara Springs offers 2 pools throughout the resort: Lap pool and swim-up bar and 4 restaurants: Asia Luna, Mis Amores, Amor loco, and Altamira restaurant. We tried all four restaurants and the truth is that each one provides an exquisite and different culinary experience. The food undoubtedly played a big factor in our stay because honestly there was nothing we did not like about their food. Everything was extremely tasteful with a great presentation. Our favorite restaurant was My Amores because it has the best views of the Arenal Volcano and the breakfasts here are truly exquisite. You should not miss a chance to try their avocado toast and their ceviche.

As for activities, there is a great variety of things that can be done in La Fortuna, San Carlos. To start the same hotel offers incredible views, trails and suspension bridges around the property with incredible vegetation, so make sure to take a tour of the property because it is really beautiful. If you are looking for activities outside the hotel there’s plenty of them. I made a list of the activities that I recommend doing if you visit this region:

1. Visit the Mystic Arenal hanging bridges: definitely a must as you will live and explore the beautiful tropical jungle. You’ll start with the path from ground level to the canopy of the jungle through a series of trails and exciting suspension bridges. The trek is 3.2 miles that includes 10 regular bridges and 6 suspension bridges. This has a cost of $ 26 entry and if you want guidance the cost may be higher.

2. Take an ATV off road tour: time to get dirty and have a good time! Undoubtedly one of my favorite activities, super adventurous since it is the most fun way to explore streams in the region. This depends on the company you do it but prices vary between $ 65 per person.

3. Cruise – catamaran in lake Arenal: definitely something I recommend doing since it is super romantic and fun. I did it with my family at the beginning of the year where we rented a cruise for us. This offers beautiful panoramic views of the volcano where we had the opportunity to swim, do various activities on the water such as kayak, paddle board, etc. The prices really depend on the company you book but an approximate cost should be $ 75 per person which includes lunch.

4. Visit La Fortuna waterfall: this 200-foot waterfall is another must and you should not miss seeing this beauty if you are in the area. The entrance is around $ 15 and is one of my favorite waterfalls in Costa Rica. The walk to the waterfall will depend on your physical condition. It took for me to do it in 15 min. It is a great place to picnic, swim or take pictures. The waterfalls emerge from a thick jungle before plummeting into an emerald green puddle.

I hope you have enjoyed my experience in Nayara Springs and why you should visit La Fortuna, San Carlos in Costa Rica.

Love,

Marcy

Nayara Springs looks magical! I love the adventures you could do there from the bridges to the ATV and the waterfall! What a fabulous vacation. The only thing that prevents me from going is that it’s adults only here (bummer). I would love to take my family and experience all this together. In any case, the pools look incredible and the food as well! Looks like a fun girls trip you had! xoxo, Christine
