Sun Resorts, Mauritius

Hello travelers today I want to share my recap of my 9 days stay with the family of Sun Resorts. After a 2 month break from my trip in East Africa it was time to return for another great adventure to one of my favorite islands: Mauritius – located in the beautiful Indian Ocean.

On this occasion I had the opportunity to visit this picturesque island with three very different hotels of Sun Resorts during July which is considered the local winter. I have to say that after having experienced the weather in March and now in July there is a big difference as the nights are cool. I remember that during the evenings I always had to wear a sweater or stole one because I was always freezing. (Robert was laughing at me because he says its a latino thing since we are not use to the cold).

To tell you a bit about Sun Resorts this is one of the most respected chains in Mauritius as it has been operating for 35 years. They have 4 properties in Mauritius and one in the Maldives. I had the opportunity to stay in 3 of their hotels in Mauritius to live a totally memorable experience and to be able to capture content for the Instagram of each (which I’m sure you guys don’t want to miss – @sugarbeachmauritius, @ambremauritius and @longbeachmauritius)

Our experience with Sun Resorts began with the Sugar Beach Mauritius Hotel located on the west coast of the island on the famous Flic en Flac. The last time we visited Mauritius in March we did not really have time to visit this area so I was excited to finally have the opportunity to see it. The hotel is designed like an old sugar plantation and today it is one of the area’s most prestigious hotels in a contemporary style. Sugar Beach Hotel has one of the best views of the coral reef just half a kilometre from the white sandy beach. It’s also a perfect place to witness beautiful sunsets with the mountains in the background. I remember from day one we had a spectacular sunset. One of my favourite places of the hotel certainly is the govflowers lounge, it’s a perfect place for pictures of Instagram and for sure you need to visit. Literally every day I wanted to take pictures in this room lol not to mention their dreamy bathroom. Without doubt it is one of the most talked about and beautiful bathrooms of the Indian Ocean. During my stay in Sugar Beach I had the chance to try the famous Aurora Spa known for its own authentic hamman that I certainly 100% recommend as it will make your stay more memorable. If any of you are looking for a hotel in Mauritius with a kids club Sugar Beach Hotel has probably the biggest kids club on the island.

Amber Mauritius was our second hotel to visit, it’s an all-inclusive adult hotel located on the east coast of the island on a quiet beach between Belle Mare and Trou d’Eau Douce. Definitely a totally different vibe to Sugar Beach as there were younger, fun people. They even have a special lounge where they offered afternoon tea and at night it becomes a fun nightclub, certainly a quite interesting change and I recommend to try it. What I liked most about Ambre Mauritius were the delicious and photogenic cocktails they offer during the day. If you are a lover of open spas in nature you will certainly love the spa of Ambre Mauritius because it has a shower and jacuzzi open in nature, not to mention the beautiful wood cabanas to get a delicious and deep massage with a view of the heavenly Indian ocean.

To end our experience we visited Long Beach Mauritius and I think it is one of my favourites. The resort faces an extensive promenade along the famous Belle Mare beach which is simply photogenic. If there is anything that motivates me to get out of bed it is a rich breakfast as Long Beach offers. Definitely one of the tastiest breakfasts I’ve ever had without talking about the presentation of the buffet which is incredibly organized and photogenic. Long Beach boasts a variety of undoubtedly all super delicious restaurants from Japanese food, Chinese food, Italian food and beach restaurant where you have an incredible selection of fresh fish and an inspiring Mauritian and international cuisine. One of the things I enjoyed most about this hotel are the beds on the beach shaped like a swing while eating sweet crepes they offer in the afternoons. Long Beach also boasts the renowned Ile aux Cerfs Club of Golf Club famous as one of the most beautiful golf courses in Mauritius and the world.

Certainly my experience at Sun Resorts was incredibly memorable! It is difficult to choose a favorite since the 3 hotels offer something totally different and each one has something special. But I would definitely recommend visiting one of their hotels for your next holiday destination in Mauritius. Many thanks to Sun Resorts for an incredible experience and I hope to return soon!

xoxo
