Travel Diaries

Playa del Carmen, Mexico

For the first time I got to travel in my Bday and it was such a wonderful experience! Yes, I decided to enjoyed one of the greatest pleasures of life: travel. I wanted to have a different routine this year instead of doing the traditional dinner with an after party. I took that money and time for myself.

If  your birthday  is coming out soon get your bag, get a ticket and leave! That was exactly what I did and it was amazing. Worrying  about where I wanted to celebrate and decorate my bday was not the thing this year so instead I wanted to travel and get lost. These are the moments that you realize how important are you for the people because no matter where you are they will try to reach you with a simple call or message. So thank you guys for all the calls, messages and comments!!! Receiving all this messages and calls make me feel so especial even though I had communication issues with my 2 phones.

I choose to go to Playa del Carmen even though it was a destination I already knew. I wanted to live the experience all over again with different people that make this trip more special: my cousin Hilany who Im very close with since we were  little and of course my travel partner Anita. Yes just picture us 3 in Playa!!!

For everyone that knows me.. I am a control freak in finding or planning every little detail. But this time I apply my cousin Hilany life rule ¨Just go with the flow¨. By the way she never planned anything and everything turn perfect for her ( i don’t know how she does it). Ok, I have to admit we got into a girls fight like every girls trip LOL But now that I´m writing this post it make me laugh because remembering things that makes you mad makes the trip much more fun.

If you guys are looking for a destination with great night party life, gorgeous beaches, new people, yummiest food ever you definitely need to go to Playa del Carmen. About 5 years ago I came with one of my best friends and we had a blast and this time Playa didn’t disappointed me it actually exceed my expectations.

If you are thinking to stay in Cancun DONT do it!! The prettiest and more fun places are more near Playa del Carmen. Cancun is more about the crazy gringo environment (borring) and is much more expensive than Playa del Carmen.

During our stay there was so many things we wanted to do but we didn’t it make it. We were 3 girls well maybe actually 4 with Rami (my cousin roommate)  and we spend almost the all time getting ready in one bathroom, partying, sleeping and repeat the same thing every day!!! Yes the parties in Playa are very good so you better have a stomach for it.

The first place we visited was  El Gran Cenote that is on the way of  Tulum road. All over Quintana Roo you will se a lot of cenotes. Judging by my pictures the water is super clear and very refreshing cold but is great because it is HOT like hell!!! Just picture Panama in February.

After that we went to Tulum to grab lunch and enjoy the beach. Of course I did my research about Tulum and one of the restaurants I wanted to visit was Posada Margherita. Its italian food and is the most delicious food i have ever taste it, not to mention the waiter that attend us LOL. The place is very modern but vintage at the same time. Im actually writing a separate post about this place because it is one of those places that inspired you the moment you just walk in.

Another place we visir is Chichen Itza that by the way this one is very far about 4 hours away in car. So we rented a car and got up early. We prefer not to paid any  tours because they left very but very early in the morning and there was no way we could make it on time. So we decided to do the tours by ourselves with our good friends Waze and Google.

I drove all the way back to Chichen Itza and what I though it will never happen.. IT HAPPEN!! We run out of gas in the middle of the highway almost close from Chichen Itza entrance. We are still wondering if the car had something with the gas needle or it was actually our fault for not noticing this on time. It was so weird because we had more than a 1/4 gas and in less than 5 minutes we run out of gas.

So we had to go out of the car and ask for help to any car we could see and thankfully the first person we asked he stop. Carlos helped us and while my cousin stayed in the car Anita and me went with Carlos to the nearest town called Valladolid to look for gas and hole. Anita and me were amaze with how beautiful the town was so we ended up exploring the town from the back of the windows car.

When we got back Carlos helped us to put the gas in and we offer him to paid because we survive and we were very thankful for his help. But his answers  was : ¨If i accept the money it wouldn’t be a favor. I would do the same for anyone I will expect anyone to do same for me¨ We were speechless that he didn’t accept the money. Like really this is something you don’t see every day. He was definitely and angel.

When we finally arrived to Chichen Itza we end up paying for the package that include the entrance, food and one of the most famous cenotes in Mexico Ikkil. For Chichen Itza I would recommend you guys to bring comfortable shoes since you will walk a lot ( I didn’t took comfortable shoes this is why I mentioned) a lot of water and mosquitoes spray. Inside  Chichen Itza theres a lot of places that sells a lot of Mexican crafts. I would recommend to buy this on the way back so you can see everything they have and to compares prices.

On our way to Playa we were so traumatized with the gas situation that when we had to change clothes we didn’t turn the car on even though is was so hot!!! We wanted to save the most since we had a long way back home. Our plan was to get in time to watch the sunset in Tulum but unfortunately we didn’t make it. So we end up up watching part of the sunset in the middle of the road in the roof of the car. The last part of the sunset we watch it in a lake from a town named Coba. We discover this town because we offer a ride to a kid we knew in the middle of the road to ask something and he need it to go to the pharmacy. So we took him to the nearest pharmacy that was actually in Coba town.

Im sorry for the billion photos LOL!!  But I´m telling you guys I really enjoyed this trip!! Which i have to come back again because I didn’t had a chance see the flamingos in Holbox.

Hope you enjoyed my Playa del Carmen travel diaries as I did. Thanks for reading!
