Miavana Private Island, Madagascar

This past August I had the opportunity to return to Madagascar. I’m sure that many of you have heard of Madagascar from the famous movie right? So we all imagine it as another African country with a lot of wildlife.

But today I want to show you a part of Madagascar that you may never have known about – its beautiful paradise beaches. I took a trip to the new private island resort of Miavana in Nosy Ankao, by Time + Tide Africa.

Time + Tide Africa is a collection of exclusive safaris and remote island adventures from Zambia. With the slogan “From Bush to Sea,” they are pioneers in travel in undiscovered destinations, showcasing masterpieces of nature in a simple, sustainable and meaningful way.

My experience with Miavana began in Diego Suarez which is one of the most charming towns in Madagascar. This is where you have to go to catch the private helicopter of Miavana, which is the cutest helicopter I’ve ever seen, in a blue color like that of Tiffany & Co. It is designed with full surround glass to provide Panoramic views so you’ll be able to appreciate the beautiful scenery of turquoise waters where the whales come to mate and play. The trip lasts 35-45 min to reach the hidden paradise of Miavana.

Miavana is a luxury eco property that has only 14 villas. The villas are incredibly huge and can easily sleep 6 people in each, as they have 3 three bedrooms. Each villa has its own private pool with easy access to the beach for strolls through the pristine sands where you can enjoy beautiful sunsets with the Indian ocean waters. All villas are fully equipped with kitchens, dining rooms, terraces, outdoor showers, and a butler, as well as your own golf cart and cute bikes to tour the island. The villa fronts are also all made of glass to appreciate the panoramic views of the beach.

From our first day we felt really at home as the staff is really friendly from Jafar our butler who always made our wishes come true, the manager who was always at our disposal, guide Wayne who took us for a walk to the lighthouse and Chris who always accompanied us in the evenings where we exchanged different stories about life while enjoying delicious cocktails at the bar.

The food here was really outstanding, from the breakfasts in your villa or in the main area. Each day there was an excellent variety of delicious dishes made by the chef Enoryth for every lunch and dinner, and they even have a pizza stove.

Other top-notch services include an infinity pool in the main area facing the Indian Ocean, a “Cabinet of Curiosities” which is a mini museum with regional artefacts such as dinosaur bones and an elephant bird egg, and a center for activities. Miavana offers many activities you can do in the island like a beach picnic which we tried, being pampered with an outdoor massage in your private villa (definitely my favourite) or sunset drinks in the lighthouse. As for waters sports fans, Miavana also offers some great activities to keep you busy from snorkelling, scuba diving, fishing, paddle boards, kite surfing, dolphin watching, manta rays and whales watching with your private boats or even a safari in your private helicopter where you can visit Ankara or Ambe Mountain National Park.

One of the most exciting projects on the private island Miavana is the introduction of the magnificent and unique Lemurs, which is one of the most endangered creatures that you can only find in Madagascar and Comoros. With the purpose of helping the conservation and the protection of these in the island Nosy Ankao, the team is dedicated to natural preservation and staying here was the perfect combination of feeling pampered while also contributing to the preservation of the environment.

The rates for this hidden paradise start at $ 2,500 per night and per person, all inclusive.

Many thanks to al the team in Miavana and specially to Ella, Jafar, Chris, Wayne, Sjani and Anatolia for making our stay most memorable and pleasurable!

xoxo

Marcy

You pretty much just summarized my dream vacation! The beach looks amazing and the villa looks very relaxing. You have everything you can ask for in a getaway from the service, food, massage, etc. I also do think it’s worth the price since it’s all inclusive and basically a heaven inspired vacation lol.

That is a pretty steep price for a resort, but with all those amenities, it is so worth it! I never realized Madagascar was a real place, but boy, do I know now! I love how you can only access the resort via a helicopter; I have also never been on one of those before. Those panoramic views truly make it a gorgeous paradise!

Miavana is a dream oasis. I am very familiar with the Madagascar movies with my two little ones, and in all honestly, watched them prior to children, but you are right, I’ve never know ion the truly exquisite beaches. I’ve been itching to read this post! The helicopter sounds so beautiful and with the pano views too! The resort grounds are just beautiful and I love that they are incredibly private. I love visiting resorts with my family but have found that sometimes I cannot relax if theres too many people as I get nervous with my children. Love that this room could fit my family perfectly. The massage looks and sounds wonderful and the beautiful beach picnic as well. The really fun stuff for me is the water activities and I can never seems to get enough of those. How amazing that there’s also a mini-museum in site. That sort of thing always intrigues me. I love that you also included the rates. Stunning imagery! Loved learning about this luscious Madagascar resort!
