Unos meses, incontables caídas y muchas dosis de humildad después, me estoy dando cuenta de que aprender a surfear también es descubrir qué tipo de surf se siente más como tú.Así que pasé una semana probando algo completamente diferente: tablas más largas, olas más suaves, cross-stepping, drop knees y una forma totalmente nueva de moverme sobre el agua.Gracias @lapointcamps por darme la oportunidad de explorar el arte del longboard aquí en Bali. ¿Soy yo o cada año los hoteles encuentran nuevas f ¿Soy yo o cada año los hoteles encuentran nuevas formas de venderte menos tiempo por más dinero?Después de 10 años viajando, tengo una teoría: las habitaciones son cada vez más caras mientras las horas que puedes disfrutarlas son cada vez menos.En este viaje por Europa me encontré con varios hoteles donde el check-in era hasta las 4 pm y el check-out a las 10 u 11 am.Para mí la lógica sería sencilla: si entro a las 4 pm, debería poder quedarme hasta las 4 pm del día siguiente. Al final estoy pagando una noche completa, ¿no?¿O soy la única que piensa que “una noche de hotel” ya no significa una noche completa? 👀La matemática no me da.A este ritmo, en unos años el check-in será a las 6 pm, el check-out a las 9 am y nos seguirán llamando “una noche” 😂🏨 ••• Is it just me, or do hotels keep finding new ways to charge you more for less time in the room?After 10 years of traveling, I have a theory: hotel rooms keep getting more expensive while the number of hours you can actually enjoy them keeps getting shorter.On this trip through Europe, I stayed at several hotels where check-in was at 4 pm and check-out was at 10 or 11 am.To me, the logic seems simple: if I check in at 4 pm, I should be able to stay until 4 pm the next day. Acababa de descubrir una infidelidad en un vuelo de regreso de trabajo… y por alguna razón, en medio del aeropuerto, terminé sentada llorando frente a una monja que ni siquiera conocía.Le conté todo. Sin filtro. Sin miedo. Le pedí consejo como si me conociera de toda la vida… incluso sabiendo que una parte de mí quería quedarse en esa relación.Años después entendí que no era casualidad. No era sobre ella… era sobre cómo me hizo sentir su presencia.Con los años he notado que muchas personas se acercan a mí, de la misma forma en que yo lo hice con aquella monja en el aeropuerto de Lima, a contarme sus historias… y para mí es algo profundamente hermoso darme cuenta de que tu energía siempre habla más fuerte que cómo te ves, que lo que dices o que lo que muestras.Y eso no se puede fingir. No es apariencia, no es discurso… es algo más sutil. No filter, no fear… as if she’d known me my whole life.Years later, I realized it wasn’t about her it was about how I felt in her presence.Over time, I’ve noticed people often open up to me the same way. Es que gran parte del mundo está diseñado económicamente para parejas.Es más, hasta los hoteles a veces cobran más por una habitación con una cama que por una con dos camas. ¡EXPLÍQUENME CÓMO TIENE SENTIDO!😂Alquiler, hoteles, comida, viajes… cuando eres una sola persona, no hay nadie con quien dividir nada.Y quizás por eso el verdadero flex no es decir “no necesito a nadie”, sino construir una vida que puedas sostener sola y tener la libertad de elegir a alguien porque lo amas, no porque necesitas un segundo ingreso para sobrevivir.Eso sí me parece independencia ••• Surviving SOLO in an economy designed for two incomes IS the real flex.Nobody talks enough about the “single tax.” It’s not that being single is expensive. It’s that so much of the world is financially designed for couples.Even hotels sometimes charge more for a room with one bed than for one with two beds. Dejé de querer correr para verlo TODO y empecé a valorar algo mucho más simple: sentirme un poquito en casa, incluso estando al otro lado del mundo.Una cocina donde hacer mi desayuno. Un espacio bonito para trabajar o descansar. Mis rutinas. Mañanas sin correr.
