Continuing with my roadtrip adventure through Costa Rica, my last destination was the southern pacific coast known as one of the most biologically diverse areas in the world: Uvita Beach. Located within the Marino Ballena National Park in the southern province of Puntarenas, approximately 16 km south of Dominical, the access point for many hot surfers.<\/p>\n

Uvita Beach is a very popular destination within Costa Rica as it is where the famous Envision music festival takes place. And where the whales migrate to the warm waters of the coast to mate before returning north during the months of December and April.<\/p>\n

I made this trip with a great friend from Canada AKA @tijobear<\/a>, who actually lives super close to Uvita because he bought a house in Dominical. Tijo went to pick me up from Dominical to San Jos\u00e9, which is about 3 hours away, to return the same day to Dominical and leave for our Uvita adventure. I know, I’m really lucky to have friends like that right?<\/p>\n

To be honest, I was not only grateful that Tijo picked me up. But also excited to be able to share a few days with him since he is one of the most talented people I know.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>\"\"<\/a>\"\"<\/a>\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

I had the opportunity to visit Uvita 3-4 years ago with my friend Robert when I was still working at Ralph Lauren. And the truth is that I loved the area so much that I decided to return and explore the new Oxygen Jungle Villas<\/a>.<\/p>\n

To tell you a little about Oxygen Jungle Villas<\/a>, this is a boutique hotel with only 12 cabins designed all in translucent glass from roof to floor to offer majestic panoramic views of the jungle and the Pacific coast.<\/p>\n

The rooms are quite modern and comfortable with white furniture that provides much tranquility and peace. Each cabin has a private terrace to enjoy the sunsets with view to the sea. And if you are lucky some cute monkeys may join you to watch the golden hour.<\/p>\n

My favorite area of \u200b\u200bthe hotel is the infinity edge pool as it has a very Bali theme inspiration that offers views of the national park and the whale’s tail when the tide is low.\u00a0\"\"<\/a>\"\"<\/a>\"\"<\/a>\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

In terms of food, the hotel offers an O2 restaurant that offers breakfast, lunch and dinner. They only use fresh and organic products. My favorite dishes were the casados, the ceviche and the patacones with ground beans. After spending so much time outside of Costa Rica these dishes tastes like heaven! But really everything they serve is so delicious and freshly homemade.<\/p>\n

What I like the most about Uvita is the fun community as is the perfect combination of expats with locals. I really enjoy seeing how this area is super green and supportive with the non plastic products. Literally every place I visited, including the Oxygen Jungle Villas hotel<\/a>, didn’t use plastic.<\/p>\n

Some of the activities that I enjoyed most was visiting the Ballena Marine National Park with my friend Tijo where we flew the drone and enjoy the beautiful sunset. We also enjoy visiting the market where I had the opportunity to meet many locals and expats from the community who have established their life and craft businesses over there for many years. Everyone was so friendly!<\/p>\n
