Continuing our tour in South Africa in the Kruger National Park this time we went to The River Lodge<\/a> of Thornybush Collection<\/a> which is a private nature reserve in the northern part of Sabi Sand.<\/p>\n

Located on 14,000 hectares of pristine nature, next to the Kruger National Park, the Thornybush Nature Reserve is a real escape for a very luxurious safari experience with an essence of African tranquility at its best.<\/p>\n

Quite similar to the concept of my previous post as a rather small lodge, but with a 5-star service, since it has only 4 rooms and two of them are royal suites where we had the opportunity to stay.<\/p>\n

Each room offers a view of the Monwana seasonal river, discreetly located to guarantee a personalized and private experience for each guest.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>\"\"<\/a>\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Our Royal Suite was incredibly huge and beautiful. When we enter I immediately felt I was in a scene of an old Hollywood movie filmed in Africa. It\u2019s decorated with sophisticated African elegance, which is divided into 4 parts: the main living room where the kitchen and living room are, the main room, the additional room which extend and connect to an elevated terrace with private pool and magnificent views of the reserve. The tall thatched roofs add to the ambiance, and the bathrooms have floor to ceiling glass doors that open to the outdoors, for maximum relaxation with spectacular views while you soak in the tub which was the first thing I did upon arriving (of course). These also have an outdoor shower which completes a safari experience in a 5 star luxury lodge in the middle of wildlife.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The River Lodge<\/a>\u00a0has a public area which is exquisitely furnished and comfortably equipped, with a luxurious lounge and dining room where we had the meals of the day which are prepared by a private chef. This also has a refreshing infinity pool with magnificent views of the reserve.<\/p>\n

As for the game drives they were a success. We stayed here 3 days and we managed to see all the big five. I honestly think the more safaris you have done you always get more excited about going on another one. The truth is that you always see something different. I been traveling in Africa for a year and never see a heard of elephants before like we experienced here. It was such a stunning and beautiful scene. I swear I could just stay all day long watching them, contemplating how they behave and play with each other.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>\"\"<\/a>\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

When we weren\u2019t on a game drive we were always in our suite. It was so finely equipped that we only went to the main area to take our meals, but even on our last night we decided to have a private dinner in our Royal suite where the chef came to cook for us and it was also a super romantic experience. This night was a special one too because moments before the dinner 2 lions came close to our suite and we could watch them and listen to how they were calling the other lions. It\u2019s such a stunning sound the make. This really made our last night in\u00a0Thornybush Collection<\/a> more memorable.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

PD: Oh also very important regarding Wi-Fi, the truth is that in South Africa we have not had any problems like in Kenya and Tanzania, which only provided Wi-Fi in the main areas. Here in all the lodges we have visited we have been able to have wifi from our rooms. I hope you enjoyed this post!<\/p>\n
