\"marcyyu_mountkenya_fairmont\"<\/a>Happy 2017 my dear travelers!!! How was your Christmas and New Years? I hope that Santa and 2017 bring many beautiful things, but above all I hope you have been able to enjoy the happiness of sharing time with your families. I was not with my family this time, as I continue my adventure exploring Africa! Even though I miss my family they are in my heart, and I keep them very much in my thoughts while I live this adventure.<\/p>\n

By the way I want to apologize for being so lost in the blogosphere but the wifi has been a challenge in this region to be able to catch up with posting. But that has come to an end because I bought a portable Wifi to stay up to date and be able to share more. Wohoh !!!<\/p>\n

After exploring the Amboseli<\/a> region our next destination was Mount Kenya, where we took a Safari Link<\/a> flight to explore this region, where we stopped in Nairobi. One of the things that should be taken into account for those who are going to do internal tourism within Kenya is that almost all flights make stops in the capital of Nairobi. This really suited us a lot as we needed to change suitcases and change looks for the next destination.<\/p>\n

Although Amboseli<\/a> was an amazing experience I was looking forward to my visit to Mount Kenya since it was where I was going to spend my 29th<\/sup> birthday, but I was also very excited that we were going to visit the orphanage of Leopards and chimpanzees that were some of the animals we did not see in the Amboseli<\/a> region, and also we could cross the equator! Yes, all this can be done in one place and this is at Fairmont Mount Kenya Safari Club<\/a>.<\/p>\n

As soon as we arrived the hotel took care of picking us up at the airport where we drove around 15- 20 mins to get to the hotel. We just got taken to the room which were private cottages connecting 2 rooms. The rooms are extremely large and super equipped. Both were connected through a big living room where we had a fireplace that made for a much cozier atmosphere and the perfect place to work.<\/p>\n

The rooms had a beautiful view of the garden, including a full maze, of over 100 acres. From our rooms we could also appreciate the helicopter pad inside the hotel grounds and the main house where the reception, pool and restaurant were located.<\/p>\n

My favorite activity was definitely the visit to the orphanage as it was very memorable. I have never been so close to so many animals where we had the opportunity to feed them, play with them and even stroke them. Some of the animals that are in this orphanage are: bongos, monkeys, leopards, hippopotamus, ostriches, etc. One of the main projects of the orphanage is for the bongo, an animal near extinction. They are trying to protect it and breed them until they reach a quantity where they can get to release them back in to their natural habitat.<\/p>\n

Certainly something you guys should try to do is also a horseback safari here. This one lasts about 2 hours and we were able to see many other animals in the wild as well as the best views of Mt. Kenya. Climbing the mountain was something we wanted to do but due to lack of time we could not do it as it takes about 5 days.<\/p>\n

If there is one thing I definitely love about Fairmont Mount Kenya<\/a> it is their Sunday brunch where I had the opportunity to try their amazing breakfast on my birthday. It was the best way to start my day with such a delicious and sweet breakfast (just judge my photos hahaha). However the finishing touch ended with a super special dinner on the lake with pure candles and lights accompanied by a bonfire, a private chef, a beautiful view of the hotel property, and with a background music the sound of nature. Definitely Robert and Fairmont Hotels<\/a> made my birthday super memorable, so thank you so much for my last \u201c20s\u201d bday!<\/p>\n
