Veranda Resorts, Mauritius

After visiting the World of Heritage our next destination was to Veranda Resorts.

I don’t know about you, but I had never heard of the “bare foot” hotel concept. Well, this was the first “bare foot”  r “sandy feet” hotel I visited! Technically it means you should be barefoot all day which sets the tone of the hotel as informal, with relaxation the only rule!

I have to say that I loved this concept! When we just arrived at Veranda Pointe Aux Biches, Robert and I were able to feel the relaxed vibes since upon arrival, as they invited us to take our shoes off and feel the sand that is everywhere around the hotel.

The first activity I did was to visit the Seven Color Spa with a massage and pedicure on my feet to be able to prepare for the activities we had planned. We had planned to spend most of our time outside the hotel to explore more about the beauty of Mauritius.

Our tour began with a catamaran ride to the crystal clear waters of the Indian Ocean. The ride started from 7am and returned in the evening at 5:00pm. Within the activities to do on the catamaran we snorkeled and visited an island where we were able to relax, sunbathe and enjoy a homemade bbq lunch. I have to say it was more fun than expected, thanks to the catamaran hosts who were really funny, friendly and attentive.

The next day the activity we planned was to ride a bicycle around the town and to know more about the disappearing local culture. While exploring the town by bicycle we were able to get to know the public beaches where we had a quick stop and the opportunity to refresh ourselves with the daily vitamins of the day: coconut water and fruit snacks. We continue our tour by watching and learning more about local craft shops like metal workers, bike stores, mechanics and shoe repairmen.

After the bicycle tour we arrived at the hotel to have lunch and to continue our tour in Grand Baie where we visited the fish market, and a colorful Hindu temple. If you sometimes visit Mauritius you surely cannot miss seeing the temples as they have the prettiest Hindu temples. They are super colorful and picturesque so we took a lot of shots trying to capture the details!

I hope you enjoyed this post!

I’ve never heard of the barefoot concept either but I guess it makes sense! I think there’s definitely a connection to the ground and you must feel a sense of liberation!

As always I enjoyed your post as they are like a getaway from my everyday life and I get to dream myself into someplace in paradise which is so much needed right now. I’ve never heard of a bare foot hotel experience before and at first I thought it sounded a bit too hippyish, haha, but I actually like the idea as long as it’s clean all over 🙂 Beautiful pictures as always!

Okay you may not believe this, but even being a fashion blogger, I do not like wearing shoes or slippers of any sort around the house. I’m always barefoot, so I would fit right in at this hotel! I would also enjoy taking a catamaran ride on the Indian Ocean. What a beautiful region of the globe to explore! Sounds like quite the experience to me 🙂
