Isla Boca Brava, Gulf of Chiriqui

Hello travelers!!!! Yes, I’m finally back to the blogosphere. Sorry that I have been “MIA”.

In the last past days the worst thing that could happen to any blogger/writer happen. My computer broke and I though to get it fixed but unfortunately it didn’t survive. The good thing was I could recover all files which was much more mportant for me.

So today  I’m officially writing my first ever post from the new computer 🙂

In the continue of my dear Panama destinations today I’m sharing one of my favorites trips and definitely the travel post that have exceeded my expectations the most regards so far, The Gulf of Chiriqui in Isla Boca Brava.

I had visited David, Chiriqui before but I never though it had so incredible clear water beaches.  Chiriqui offers the best adventure destinations with access to whitewater rafting, canopy zip lines, mountain biking, volcano or waterfalls hikes, horseback riding and whitewater kayaking. The most popular place to stay is the charming mountain town Boquete on the eastern side of Volcano Baru which was the place I always stayed when I visited Chiriqui.

After our San Blas trip we took a local flight to David with AirPanama. When we arrived to the airport  Cala Mia Boutique Resort set everything for our pick up at the airport. It took aproximately around 2 hours for the car to drop us where we had to take a boat to get to the hotel. The boat drive took about 35 minutes more.

Boutique Cala Mia Resort is one of the few unique hotels located in Isla Boca Brava, the Pacific Gulf south of David in Panama’s western province. Is home to thousands of pristine islands and unspoiled beaches. Isla Boca Brava is a virtually uninhabited island in the Gulf of Chiriqui Marine National Park. The island has access to innumerable secluded beaches and is a refuge for an abundance of wildlife both on land and in the water. Hotel Cala Mia offers 11 bungalow suites on Isla Boca Brava is the perfect jumping-off point to explore the nearby islands, beaches and mangroves

The rooms are extremely big and comfortable. I think Robert and me where stunned in how tall the roof of the bungalow were which make the room very spacious and very cozy. Something I really enjoyed was the sound of the animals around the hotel and the beautiful and colorful hammocks which were extended all the way to the beach where the bar is.

As part of the activities we did was the island hopping tour. This is definitely a “must” if you ever make it to Gulf of Chiriqui. Really just judge my photos and you will not regret it at all. The hotel prepared us everything for the island tour. We had all the beach kit like beach chairs, towels, cooler with refreshing beverages and even the snorkeling kit. They can even prepared you everything to have a picnic at the beach as well.

One of my favorites island for sure was Isla Bolaños.  The water was so clear and so refreshing. We even found a secret spot next to the rocks where we took my topless photos.  The good thing in this visit was that we were almost the all time alone which make it great for the photos. However we did hear from our boat driver that during carnivals this beaches get very busy specially because people camp in them. So if you ever make it here make sure not to go on carnivals season.

Another of the activities we did was the horse riding tour which started next to the beach, pass all the way to the mangroves and jungle and finished in the Cala Mia Boutique Hotel beach. It took us about 2 hours to make the horse riding which was a lot but it was because Robert and me had some technical issues with our horses LOL. We both had a while since riding a horse so we were very slow.

For sure I will love to come back to Gulf of Chiriqui since there was so many beaches we couldn’t visit. So probably I will be back before you know it.

Hope you enjoyed my travel diaries from the Gulf of Chiriqui. Make sure to stay tuned for more paradisiac destinations.

Next stop —> Bocas del Toro.

xx
