Gulf of Papagayo, Costa Rica

MarcyYu_TheMangroove_CostaRica14

As many of you know I did some local tourism in Costa Rica with my dear friend Robert in February (sorry I’m always behind on my travel post). I actually had on my plans to visit CR for my father elections. So after my dad elections I meet Robert where the man and mangrove meet with groovy inspiration, El Mangroove in Gulf of Papagayo.

To get to Gulf of Papagayo is really easy specially because there’s an International airport called Daniel Oduber in Liberia. You can take any flight from Sansa or Nature Air from San Jose that takes about 45 min.  The airport its just 15 minutes from el Coco, a lively beach town with restaurants, bars artsy souvenir markets, parks and shops.

I was actually very exited about this trip since it was almost a year since my last visit. So El Mangroove was the perfect way to start my adventure in Costa Rica. Since the moment I walked in to the hotel I immediately had a feeling of relaxation to be surrounded of such nature, with tall and enormous trees. I felt to be lost in the woods but with all the nicest facilities you could have lol.

The property spans for 17 acres, surrounded by virgin mangrove, enclosed by a natural forest and with 150 mts of beach front, which stretches for 1 mile. The attention (not because I’m from CR) but really you feel the urge from the staff to assist you with every kindness to details. The manager give me a small tour around the hotel where the first 2 things I notice were the beautiful customized, knitted colorful chairs  (which by the way are everywhere in the hotel even in the rooms)  and the private cabanas around the pool.

El Mangroove have 85 suites  that capture the simplistic yet exotic character of Costa Rica, with natural wood furnishings, regional artwork and contemporary stone finishes. Seamless transitions between indoor and outdoor living rooms make the space comfortable. The perfect mixes of wood and water alongside contemporary linear architecture, natural furnishings and subtle splashes of color make it evident that true indulgence is actually found in simplicity. This property is not only naturally inspiring but whole- somely fresh and sexy. El Mangroove is where “Man” and “Mangrove” meet in a “groovy” kind of way.

One of the master pieces of the hotel that is near the pool is a sculpture from the French – Israeli artist Idan Zaresk, a man laydown with barefoot.

As for the spa really El Mangroove takes the price for having the best spa in the world. What a “Spa goals” really means it clearly represented by this one. Just judge by the photos! Who on earth wouldn’t want a massage in a place like this right? Is heaven.

The hotel also has complementary bicycles to explore around the hotel. As for the food is sustainable comfort food with farm-to-table menus or ocean-to-table shall we say are a tradition in the making. A mix of ambiances and flavors, El Mangroove’s dining experiences will entice all pallets, from burger bashers to the appreciative catch of the day grillers.  My favorites for sure where the fish tacos, tuna tartar and of course the entire dessert menu lol. My preferred by far was an entire jar of vanilla ice cream with caramel and chocolates pieces at the bottom of the jar (sorry I have a living fat lady inside me).

Hope you enjoy this post!

PD: Thanks for all the sweet messages on Snapchat, IG, whatsapp during my surgery!!
