Travel Diaries

Bogota, Colombia

Marcy Yu bogota diaries 7

It was about time to share one my Bogota travel diaries. Can you guys believe I been three times this year already? The most exciting part for me is that I get to wear all my cold medium weight pieces from my closet and of course eat all the sweet “arepas” my body accepts.

Bogota is so near Panama (1.5 hours flight) that I could flight every weekend. The flights are so cheap     (you can get one for less than 300$) and right now is the best season to travel since the dollar drop so it’s a benefit for the foreigners.

The first time I travel to Bogota this year was for the Estereo Picnic music Festival, the second time was actually for work that it shouldn’t count and the third one to celebrate one on my best friend’s birthday Patty V ; she used to be my old neighbor since I moved to Panama.

So we travel to Bogota to celebrate Patty’s 28th birthday. We were about seven people and actually the “party crasher” was me because I was the only one that was not in college with the rest of the group.

We went for four days and three nights. This time I stay in a different hotel: City Flats in a great location, great installations, and cheaper than the Click Clack hotel actually. (This was the hotel I always stayed every time I came to Bogota)

Besides parting we also planned to go to:

1. Monserrat: my favorite place I visited from this trip. Make sure to visit the little market inside to buy souvenirs and also if you have time visit Casa San Isidro restaurant. I didn’t had  the enough time to stayed but I heard is very good and have an amazing view. If any of you guys go I would like to hear your reviews.

2. Botero Musseum: make sure to visit the little Botero shop in the ground floor. They have veny nice staffies that I’m sure any of your friends or family will liked. This musseum is in la Candelaria so make sure to walk around eating an arequipe oblea (for sure is a must that you guys need to tried).

3. Salt Cathedral: my leats favorite one but I think the all gruop love it specially Patty V (after she didn’t want to go LOL, we actually had to beg her to go) Is a very long tour so make sure to take comfy shoes because you will be walking a lot.

4. Andres Dc and Andres Chia: on my last year Bogota travel I mentioned you must go to Andres Dc because is in the city. Andres Chia is about 1 hour from the city but this one is bigger and more funnier actually. If you go make sure to make reservation with enough time and to bring a coat because is freezing.

Since the moment we arrived to Juan Jose Neira land he make us felt like home. He was also in college with the rest of the group and he actually lives in Bogota so we couldn’t ask for a better guide.

If you guys want to tried an all traditional colombian restaurant you guys need to go to “ Sopas de mama y postres de la abuela” (Mom’s soups and grandmothers desserts recipes)  Just with the name of the restaurant you will nor regret it believe me. For soup I order ajiaco colombiano … So delicious!! Another restaurant you guys need to try for breakfast is Myrim Camhi (Carrera 8 con Calle 81) the most delicious and beautiful breakfast.

You guys cannot leave Bogota without trying the sweet arepa (my favorite). I promise you this is the best thing from Colombia. Lastly but very important you guys need to drink “agua ardiente” I honestly think this is better than tequila! (I’m serious) Don’t be afraid like I was Lol. It taste much better and the hangover is much better than tequila.

Writting this post took me back to this trip and actually it was a very good trip specially with the friends I was able to share this experience. For sure I will not a miss a chance to travel back to Bogota.

I hope you guys like the photos (this was my first time using my Nikon D5300).

My Nicaragua travel is coming up soon, so stay tunned!!!

Love,
